raisin bread

Irish Soda Raisin Bread

    • 1  1/4 tsp baking powder
    • 1  1/4 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 quart buttermilk
    • 6-8 cups flour (I used half whole wheat flour)
    • 16 oz raisinsimage
Mix buttermilk and first four ingredients.  Add flour until it is the consistency of thick pie dough.  Stir in raisins.  Divide into two greased bread pans and bake at 350 for 60-90 minutes.
Brush top of loafs with melted butter and enjoy!
