I am going crazy because Avery is no longer the great sleeper that she used to be… Sadly, her 8 hour stretches of sleep at night have dwindled to 3 or 4 hours at a time. It makes it so much worse that she was sleeping better before than she is now because I know what she is capable of. I feel like she is just messing with me! Lack of sleep = crazy mom!
I think that her daytime sleep, or lack there of, is definitely affecting her nighttime sleep. She hardly naps during the day, and the naps that she does take are so short (usually less than an hour). I am desperately trying to get her to sleep more and use her sleepy signals to get her nap when she’s tired, but somehow we keep missing that window of opportunity and she ends up fussy, then wide awake. It doesn’t help that she wakes up every time I lay her down in her crib…
Last night I tried to get Avery down for bed earlier, hoping that it would help her sleep a little longer at night (as this book recommends). She was in bed by 6:30 PM. In an attempt to be super quiet and let her rest, Macy took her bath in the kitchen sink! She ended up having a great time splashing around in there.
Then, we played and watched TV in Blake’s office so that we wouldn’t wake up our sleeping baby. All of this tiptoeing around resulting in Avery sleeping for….drumroll please… a whopping 45 minutes!! Not quite what we had anticipated. Let’s hope for better luck tonight.
