Jessica Alba started a new company that focuses on providing safe, non-toxic diapers, wipes, and cleaning products for your family. She is offering a free sample of the products if you sign up here.
The only catch is that when you sign up for the free sample, you are automatically enrolled into a monthly subscription service (at $80 a month for the diapers!), so don’t forget to cancel the service after you receive your free sample if you don’t want to continue receiving products!

Yesterday, our sweet baby girl turned five months old!
Time is going by so fast! Soon my baby won’t be a baby anymore, and that makes me sad.
I created a sticker chart to encourage Macy to stay dry all day (no accidents!). She was getting lazy with her new skill and would often be too busy playing to take a potty break. Also, the initial fun of using the potty had worn off, so I created this system to reward her for staying dry. The concept was simple- stay dry all day and earn a sticker, but the results were amazing.
I did not enjoy cleaning up after accidents- pee on the floor along with wet pants, underwear, and socks! I think she is in a great potty pattern now, but I am going to start a new sticker chart just for fun because who doesn’t like
a fresh manicure,
playing with a new doctor’s kit,
or lunch at Red Robin! 🙂
I have been feeding Avery solid foods (including oatmeal, barley, fruits, and vegetables) twice a day now. Some days she is really into it, and other days I feel like I am force feeding her.
I don’t remember having this problem with Macy. Even though she has never been a huge eater, she liked all of the foods I gave her to try, besides avacado, and always would open her mouth really wide for the spoon. Could it be that Avery just isn’t ready for solids quite yet? I do think that she is interested and likes to experience the textures in food because she already has a strong love of puffs and gives the food on my plate some serious stare-downs. Any mommies have advice for this picky eater?
I found this delicious soup recipe on Pinterest and made it on Sunday. I was definitely impressed with this soup. It is similar to a broccoli cheddar soup, but incorporates more vegetables, making it even more tasty. This soup is guaranteed to warm your soul and keep your belly full!
Cheesy Vegetable Chowder
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped carrot
- 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 large baking potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 tbsp. flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 cups chopped broccoli
- 2 heaping cups shredded cheddar cheese
Melt the butter in a large soup pot. Add onions, carrots, and celery and saute over medium heat until tender. Add garlic and cook 1 or 2 additional minutes.
Add chicken broth and potatoes, bring to a boil, and cook until potatoes are tender. Mix flour with water, add, and simmer until soup is slightly thickened.
Add milk and broccoli and cook until broccoli is just tender and soup is heated through. Stir in cheese, allow to melt, and serve.
Topless juice party at the Martin residence. Who’s interested?
We got about five inches of snow on Saturday and of course had to take the girls out to enjoy the first snowfall of 2012.
Avery experienced snow for the first time.
They had some fun on the sled.
And then Avery put Macy to work 🙂
