Last night, I had my first Thursday night off in awhile and took full advantage of my freedom. It’s so nice to slip out of mom mode for a few hours and focus on myself.
I did some spring shopping at The Crossings and used a gift card that I received for Christmas at J.Crew. I got colored denim, a necklace, 2 shirts, and a belt. Success!
Next, I hit up one of my fav places- Target! Can you believe that I haven’t been there in weeks!?! That’s very unusual for me. I got a coffee and just browsed around, which was awesome. I love me some Target!
Finally, I went to get my hair colored and cut. The color was in need of some refreshing and I went lighter again. I guess this warm weather is really affecting me! Macy just told me that my hair looks pretty, which totally made my day!
This afternoon I decided to tackle my long run to get it out of the way. Tomorrow will be pretty busy with swim class, a visit to the Easter bunny, and a bridal shower for me to attend. I got done with my 7 miles and now I’m refeuling on the couch with chocolate milk and animal crackers. Macy is enjoying the same thing for an afternoon snack 😉
Maybe later I’ll refeul again with a glass of wine! What are your weekend plans? Happy Friday!
Yesterday while I was running (5 miles, which felt great in the 60 degree, breezy weather!), I saw a truck with these additions hanging from the back.
What is the need for that?! In my humble opinion, any man that feels the need to suspend a fake set of testicles from his vehicle must be trying to fill a void! What kind of men do this? And what is the point?
I’m glad that my husband is much too manly (and much too classy) to ever think about jazzing his car up with a pair!
A week ago, we went to the Fresh Beat Band concert at the Kirby Center. I planned this a few months ago as something fun to do with our big girl, Macy Moose. Our world used to revolve around her (and it still partially does) and I sometimes feel guilty that I can’t give her as much attention as I used to.
She was so excited to go and even practiced some dance moves in the yard before we headed out.
I didn’t know what she would think of the whole thing, since this was our first concert and we have never even taken her to the movie theater before, but she did great. She was a little overwhelmed at first, but by the second song, she was dancing in the aisle. The show was 65 minutes long, with a 15 minute intermission. The intermission really got Macy out of the mood, because she was ready to leave after waiting those long 15 minutes of downtime. I think it would have better without the intermission, but I’m sure some kids needed to pee and others needed their overpriced sugar rush. We got a little momento to remember this fun day- a glowstick that was a bargain at $10!
Afterwards, we went out to dinner with Macy’s new BFF, Violet, and her parents. Our husbands finally met each other and the girls had lots of fun coloring and chowing down on mac and cheese. A good time was had by all.
For dinner, I enjoyed French Onion soup
and Brushetta Chicken Pasta, which was delicious and not too horrible nutritional fact-wise.
Yesterday my little baby turned seven months old! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by! Somehow, it seems even faster than the first time around with Macy.
Taking the monthly pictures is becoming increasingly more difficult. Homegirl was literally climbing out of her chair and she just wants to play with the blocks! She is a real mover and a shaker lately, crawling across the whole living room backwards 🙂
At least I managed to get one good one.
On Saturday, my mom was down for a visit, which was tons of fun! That night, Macy was invited to a sleepover at her other grandparent’s house and gladly accepted. Blake and I dropped her off and then headed out on the town. Bed, Bath, and Beyond, plus dinner at Trackside. We’re a wild bunch 😉
Avery was pretty tired, but perked up as soon as
she saw food we got into the restaurant.
I ordered a side of sweet potato fries, and the spicy Mexican Tempura roll. The Mexican was delicious. The sweet potato fries were just okay. Avery thought they were the bomb! 🙂 This
fatty foodie loves pretty much anything though!
A train even went by while we were eating, which was pretty cool. Maybe I just thought it was cool because I enjoyed two beers with dinner. It was a fun night, but seemed way too quiet without my Macy Moose around. I may complain about the noise and the mess, but I was more than ready to get my little girl back home the next morning.
Last Saturday I surprised Blakeman with a date night to the Frogtown Inn. This place is only about a mile from our house, and has the best food EVER. I have honestly never been disappointed with a meal there. If you’re ever in the area, you have to go!
We shared a wedge salad,
then Blake enjoyed the steak and cake (best filet we’ve ever had!),
and I had the scallops.
We don’t usually get dessert when we go out, but I had a chocolate craving, so we splurged on this four layer chocolate cake. It was divine.
I don’t even want to know how many calories were consumed this night. Good thing I ran 7 miles the next day though!
I feel so lucky that we have a great babysitter that’s nice, reliable, and that the girls love. It’s nice to be able to enjoy a night out with my hubby and not worry one bit about what’s going on back at home. Thanks Beth Mack for being so great with our most prized possessions!
