a blog about my busy little life as a mom

I recently tried another subscription service, but this one was for the kids.  You enter your child’s gender and age, and they send you a few toys and books in a fun, colorful box.  In our first box, we got a book, a little wooden shoe to teach shoelace tying (my favorite thing from this shipment!), a Skip Hop storage bin, and some hand lotion for me.  I could have done without the lotion- this is a box for them after all, but it does smell pretty good!

The main reason I tried out this subscription service was because someone gave me a coupon for it, and now you can save too, using the link below for 50% off your first box!

I plan to keep this service for a few months to see what other cool little toys we get!

I recently tried Nature Box for the first time and I’m a fan!  With my no-dairy diet, it’s been hard to find snacks I can eat that still taste good.  With Nature Box, it’s as easy as checking a box to select dairy free snacks.  You can opt to let them choose the snacks for you, or select your own.  I chose to select my own.  So far, my favorites are the Big Island Pineapple and the Honey Crunch Crisps (which are already gone!).DSC_0184

I used a coupon to get my first box 50% off (these five snacks cost around $10).  I think I will stick with this subscription service for awhile.  I really enjoyed all the snacks and can’t wait to try new things next month!

If you’re interested in trying Nature Box (and want to save half off your first box!!), use this link.  Hope you love your snacks as much as I do!

The amount of snow we have here is getting pretty crazy! We have had one storm after the other and it’s really piling up! Here’s a few pics from our snow day this weekend.

Today Blake, Quinn, and I set out to do some grocery shopping and prepare for her baptism next weekend. Quinn was happy to be along for the ride.

We also stopped in to Five Guys for lunch. Yum! Even without cheese, this was still a delicious burger!

They have a really cool soda machine there too where you can choose flavored sodas of all different kinds or make your own mix. I mixed sprite raspberry and sprite peach. The verdict- probably the best soda I’ve ever had! I may become obsessed!

I’ve recently been using coconut oil as a facial moisturizer.  I love the smell and the simplicity of it- coconut oil doesn’t contain questionable chemicals and ingredients.  It works great as a moisturizer and For exfoliating, you could blend coconut oil with coarse sugar or salt to use as a simple, affordable face scrub.

A great way to take care of your skin is getting regular facials. Pure Day Spa offers a few different types of pampering facials.  They use Yonka Skin Care Products for a luxurious experience, tailored to your skin type.  One of the best things about Yonka’s products is that they are all natural and don’t contain parabens.  (Parabens are preservatives found in some cosmetics.  This chemical has been associated with cancer though, and should be avoided.)  Yonka uses natural plant extracts and essential oils to achieve clear, radiant skin.

Whether you’re interested in deep pore cleansing, resurfacing, hydrating, or firming and lifting, Pure has a facial for you!

I had a facial scheduled at Pure last week and had to cancel because I didn’t have a babysitter, but I will definitely be rescheduling soon.  Maybe I’ll see you there?

I recently bought an apothecary jar to keep Quinn’s headbands in, and I just love how it looks.  DSC_0033

I know a lot of people like those headband holders like this:

Hair Bow Board Organizer: Pink, Green and Yellow Flowers with optional headband holder

but I just don’t care for those (no offense to anyone who has one or makes them!).  I prefer my new jar and figure I can even put it to good use in the future, long after Quinn has outgrown her headbands!

When redoing Avery’s old room to convert it into Quinn’s, I bought new bedding.  I also decided to reupholster the glider in the room.  I had used it for Macy and Avery, so it had some stains and discoloration.  With the help of my mom’s friend, the glider got a big makeover.

I love how it came out and it feels like a whole new chair!
